spooky scary

Hey y'all
most of you have probably started celebrating Halloween except if you live in Hawaii, but I thought I should show you some costumes I've been working on.
less chunky totoro
This was last years costume, warm, cute and hopefully instantly recognizable.
Finn the human mouse!
This year I went for another cartoon character, the mathmatical Finn from Adventure Time! I apologize for the less illustrious drawing, I'll do a better one when I show you what Matt looked like as Jake. I have to admit, I did minimal effort on this one, not even a sword or backpack for shame! I'm sorry! I was waaay more into working on Poe's costume, he looks better in clothes.
Fur realz.
The patches are real too. They were altered to say 'Dog Kennedys' and 'Moterhound.' It was a hit despite Poe's less-than-tough personality. We went to a dog trick or treat party in my neighborhood and got two bags of treats! No children whatsoever. It was very agreeable. Especially when I saw a huge dog banana crash the party. So rad!
Have a spooky scary Halloween  ^O^ <-- what is that?

Job

my occupation
at the moment I work for a business that I shall not name (for safety), but in short, describes a content pooch. I am a handler of canines large and tiny; sometimes I play with them, mostly I clean after them, and provide a safe environment for them to play in. At times it can be mundane, such as today when I cleaned tarps and fences, looked for odd cleaning jobs, and generally looked busy. The days when I work with dogs are the most rewarding, I enjoy observing interactions and understanding their language. Of course I keep them from killing each other too, that's when I step in and stop their chinwag. When I'm in group, I feel like a big game hunter on safari, or a zoo keeper, not because I'm dealing with all kinds of creatures, but because of our ill-fitting uniforms. we either wear a huge khaki shirt, or grease monkey jumpsuit.

This fence will never be clean!

My aim is to become a trainer (I can use that after this job), but I don't know how slow that will take. I've been chatting it up with one of the trainers, gently dropping clues of how good I would be, but I may have to be more forceful to get what I want. It's hard to know how to act around superiors and superiors my age. Do I act formally? casually? Is it ok to swear? what ever the fuck I have to say, it may take some time to prove myself. We'll see how far $10 an hour takes me. This is my job.

Ceramics and My Doggins

Pottery painting is fuckin fabulous, but also expensive and time demanding. Until last year I hadn't really done any pottery since that birthday party I went to in 5th grade. That completely changed when my housemate, Margaret, started working at a paint-ur-own pottery studio. Mondays are the best days to go in and visit Margaret at work; I'll bring her a burrito, and paint some broken/weird lookin ceramics.
Here's what I made recently on chipped tiles:

The fuzzy one is my dog Poe, and the bread-loafed lady is Gidget, my mom's dog and Poe's bestie. I found Gidget a the SPCA a couple years ago when I was still in school. I felt she needed a really good home because she was waaay different (friendly with everyone, not aggressive towards human males, and no abandonment issues). Fortunately, I had really good timing, because when I had brought her to my mother to meet, my little sister had just left for college. My mom really needed an amigo, and after a day and a half I cured my mom of her empty nest syndrome, and found a home for a @ the time tiny, sweet dog. Gidget is an important member of the family, and my mom's companion; no one can say no to snuggling to this bubble of happy burrito.

I've only had Poe since February of this year, he's got his quirks, but he's turning into a good lil guy. He just wants to run, cuddle, and play frisbee. Besides Gidget, he's still learning how to interact with dogs appropriately, but he's gotten pretty good with people just sit down when you meet him. He's technically my housemate's dog, but I take a lotta charge over him. Stuff like feeding, walking, medication, going to the vet... we've gotten really close. I hope we can share him like divorced parents if I don't live with my house mate in a couple years.

Together these two lil monsters kill all the squeaky toys, terrorize Sketchy and Pizza, our neighbors outdoor cats, and take over the couch. I've tried taking them to work with me, but they seem more relaxed at home. Aw, such weird, cuddly lil dogs!
bye
